AutismConnects currently uses a Google Maps Interface. This is a new system and upgrades will occur periodically. If you encounter problems please review the items below. If you still have problems please contact us at techsupport@autismconnects.com. Please describe the problem and let us know what browser you are using.
Viewing the contents of the AutismConnects Map:
You can click on the markers on the map to view more information about each service provider. However, the markers are clustered in high-density areas so you may need to zoom in closer to see individual markers. To zoom the map into a specific location click the + or - buttons on the left hand side of the map, or use the local search box (see below). As you zoom closer into the desired location, move the map by clicking and dragging to keep the approximate location near the middle of the map.
You may also click "view as list" in the bottom right-hand corner of the map to view a printable listing of all the service providers on the map (or only those in your search or filter...see search instructions below).
Searching by location using the AutismConnects Map:
There
is a local search box at the bottom of the map that you can use to
search for a location (for example, "Toronto"). Just type the name into
the search box where it says "Zoom to a Location" and click "search".
The map will zoom in to that location. You might need to specify a
region (for example, "London, ON" instead of just "London") so that the
map zooms to the correct location.
You can also type a location into the search box at the right;
however, this will not make the map zoom to your preferred location.
Instead, it will filter results showing only those that are located in
the city you specified. It will also eliminate services in nearby
locations (example: searching for "Toronto" will not yield results in
outlying areas such as Mississauga and Scarborough).
Filtering by types of services using the AutismConnects Map:
You can narrow your results to one or more types of services using the check boxes on the right hand side of the map. For example, to view only services that offer diagnosis of ASDs, click on the "Diagnosis" check box. To view all services, click the check boxes again to blank them.Searching by name of service using the AutismConnects Map:
You can search for a particular service by typing the name (or part of the name) in the search box on the right and clicking "search". This will not zoom to the resulting service, but will filter out extraneous services that do not match your query. You probably do not want to type the name in the "Zoom to Location" box, as this box is provided by Google and locates places listed with Google Maps rather than places listed on our own AutismConnects map.
